Summertime Fun: Skyward Kites at Haulover Park

Imagine a patch of blue sky filled to bursting with colorful kites. Now imagine that kite flying event happens every day of the week, from sun up to sun down (well technically 10am-6pm) at Haulover Park

Well it does. And the guy that make this wonderland dream possible is owner Dan Ward of Skyward Kites. Dan is born and raised in South Florida, and always had a love for kites, so he created a store selling just that on Ocean Drive in 1984. In 1992, he moved his business to Haulover Park to plant roots and sail kites.

When you stop by the park, look for the huge solar powered trailer. They sell the largest selection of kites in South Florida, and the only thing that would make that even better is if they were sold at some crazy affordable price --wait a sec, they are! Prices start at just 5 bucks.

And Skyward Kites picked the best location to set up shop too. Haulover Park has huge breezy fields just perfect for flying kites, windsocks, and kite spinners. The cherry on top? Parking there is free too.

Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Summer afternoon. Let's get to it.

Haulover Park is located at 10800 Collins Avenue, Miami, FL.
